Why this Site?

"Topological Media" are materials with very exciting physical properties, which could be the future of computing. The reason for this is that a manageable topological medium would enable physicists to build a working quantum computer large enough to do useful computations. This site aims to give a very short introduction to quantum computers, the main problem that besets their construction, how topological media might come to the rescue and what a topological quantum memory might look like. At the moment, it contains mainly notes to the poster shown on the right (you can click on it for a larger, printable version).
